What We Reap, We Sow

Nostalgia, like fashion, is a cycle destined to repeat itself until any possible derivable pleasure has been wrung out of it. The world of film is no different. Producers gain "inspiration" from box office charts from twenty years ago. Here are some examples of recent films and the films that "inspired" them. See how much of the flavor gets lost in the updating process.

Jaws (1975)
Roy Scheider sees a shark then twitches like a caffeinated meth addict while Drefus kvetches & Robert Shaw gets eaten. Classic.
Magic (1978)
Ventriloquist nightmare courtesy of Richard Attenborough (pre-knighting) & William Goldman. Anthony Hopkins (pre-knighting) provides voice of Fats the Dummy. Sweet dreams.
Deep Blue Sea (1999)
The definite LL Cool J / Michael Rapaport bio-engineered shark movie. Finally.
Bride of Chucky (1998)
Two puppets fucking. The horror.
