Imagine our surprise when the best movie we've seen this year starred Michael Douglas. WONDER BOYS' appeal, though, can be attributed to Curtis Hanson's sixth sense-like gift of translating great books to the big screen. If we overheard that he was going to make a movie of the phone book, we wouldn't even bat an eye. But what about the author of WONDER BOYS, MIchael Chabon? What kind of range does he have? Could he write a big budget action movie like, say..X-MEN? It would be interesting to at least see what kind of proposal he would come up with, n'est-ce-pas?
